BLOG 38: 花火！

すみません、ブログのポストの一つがカンバスになかったから、わすれている。だから、もう一つリスニングをした！

花火といううたを聞いた。

このうたは、アニメ英が「Fireworks」のうた。英が、わかい人となつの話。時間と人のくもち（feelings)もある。この映が、見たことある？まだ見てないけど、人気があるのは知ってる。

うたの中で、むかしのなつについて話したり、海や花火のイメージがある。花火は、きれいだけど、みじかい。だから、このうたは、きれいで、なつかしくて（nostalgic)、ちょっとさびしい。

I was a bit surprised that I could ascertain the above by reading the lyrics, but it was way harder to catch this by just listening. The little I did understand from listening alone (themes about summer - きっとまだおわらないなつ が) I only obtained with a lot of mental effort. I think this is largely because I don't have enough vocabulary and grammar to distinguish words from each other, but obviously we are working on that in class. 

At the very least, the sounds of Japanese have become very familiar to me, and I do believe that I'm gaining a more comprehensive idea of the language overall, even when I hear unfamiliar words and grammar. 

I definitely hope to do more listening material blog posts next semester, because the structured posts are helpful, but it's harder to get as much culturally-relevant input with them.
