BLOG 1: GET TO KNOW ME!

Hi! I'm Dani, and this is my piggie (モルモット) Bungus!

We're originally from Lorton, Virginia, which is just outside Washington, D.C.

Bungus and I are majoring in Aerospace Engineering, minoring in music, and (hopefully!) in Japanese!

I grew up in a bilingual household (English and Tagalog), and also studied Spanish throughout elementary, middle, and high school. My parents are both fluent in Arabic as well!
In other words, I've for most of my life been surrounded by different cultures and modes of thinking (languages!), and hope to expand my horizons here at Notre Dame.
I primarily chose Japanese because I wanted to challenge myself with a different alphabet and writing system(s), although not one(s) as daunting as Mandarin.

  2. Nice to meet you Dani! Good luck in your major. Aerospace engineering can be challenging but very rewarding; let me know if you want any tech elective recommendations! Also, do you play any instruments?

  5. Hi Dani! I like that you choose to study Japanese to challenge yourself a bit with a new writing system, I think it adds a new layer to language learning that makes it fun.
